The Academic Society for the Research of Religions and Ideologies (SACRI)

The Academic Society for the Research of Religions and Ideologies (SACRI) is a non-profit, non-governmental, autonomous juridical person with no patrimonial purpose. SACRI engages in organizing, informing, endorsing, rewarding, promoting and representing researchers in the field of religions and ideologies. An important dimension is the ethical aspect of religion. SACRI consists of several working groups, namely: SACRI group (committed to promoting excellence in religious studies); SCIRI (a platform where experienced researchers meet junior academics in regular conferences and lectures); GDES (Group of Debates Ethics and Society, grouping researchers interested in the developments of applied ethics) and GendeRomania (a group of junior academics committed to the development of gender studies in the academia and the civic sphere). Together with SCIRI, SACRI also publishes the Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies (JSRI), a three times annual, open access, internet-available journal. It publishes texts in English and Romanian, and regularly publishes interdisciplinary texts, as well as texts in applied ethics and bioethics. Inside of SACRI, GDES is the main sub-group that develops research on applied ethics in general and on ethics of transplantation in particular. During the last years, GDES has organized debates with young students on medical ethics, research ethics and communication ethics.
